This year has been the wettest year on record.
East coast lows have seen the wetland flooded on 3 occasions between January and July. This was followed by one of the coldest Springs and a very late start to Summer.
With the flooding over the great dividing range many of the migratory birds didn’t arrive, however the floods washed fish from the river into the wetland and the eagles, pelicans, egrets, herons and cormorants made the wetland their hunting grounds.
