2004 had the hottest month recorded since 1861 when record keeping began.
2004 Winter saw much higher temperatures than average and much lower rainfall. The clear skies at night meant that temperatures dropped to around 2c and sat at around 19c during the day. These photos, taken in June 2004, show a very dry swamp together with views from the ridge overlooking the south west edge of the refuge.
